smart  - Information for Providers

Does your patient have challenges taking their art?

Picture
We are recruiting for a study to support youth struggling with adherence and maintaining a suppressed viral load.
Are they living with HIV?
Are they 15-24 years of age?
Do they have a viral load of  ≥200 copies/mL?
If so, refer them to the SMART project!

  • If eligible, your patient will receive a daily text message reminder or a phone call from an adherence facilitator each weekday to support them in taking their ART.
  • Patients will be randomized to receive either the text message reminder or the phone call.
  • With your patient's permission, our adherence facilitator will contact your clinical team if they are having problems with taking their ART (e.g., insurance issue).
  • Our adherence facilitator will support your patient to contact your clinical team for other issues such as homelessness, substance use, and other challenges that might make ART adherence difficult.
  • If eligible for SMART, your patient could also receive up to $500+ for their participation.
To screen for the SMART study, patients can do one of the following:
  • Text "research" to 99000
  • Go to prideresearch.org/SMART
  • Call 212-206-7919 to screen over the phone

Place a free order for recruitment material below

Available SMART recruitment materials include:
Participant poster - can be hung around your clinic for patients to learn about the study and methods of screening
Recruitment cards  - can be handed to patients who may be eligible (they are a smaller version of the participant poster)
