one thousand strong

3-year study of 1,000 gay and bisexual men across the U.S.
Gay and bisexual men continue to bear the brunt of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and a lot has changed in the last 30 years. For too long, most of the research to prevent the spread of HIV has focused on the "negative" - trying to answer the question, "What are we, as gay and bisexual men, doing wrong?" Unfortunately, this doesn't tell us much about what gay and bisexual men are doing right! And he truth is, most gay and bisexual men won't contract HIV.
The goal of One Thousand Strong is to learn about what helps men make responsible decisions about their sexual health - even in the face of things like discrimination, stigma, and homophobia. The participants of One Thousand Strong are making a valuable contribution to HIV prevention and improving the sexual health of gay and bisexual men everywhere. The study involves confidential online surveys as well as free at-home HIV and STI testing.
